The one where I kitbash...

So the dust has settled, the Dark Eldar have been put away in a temper tantrum and I'm bored on half term!
I've had a few things have been on my mind over the past few days and I will get to the kitbashing after I've talked through a few other things!

Tomorrow (or by the time you're reading this - today), I will be assisting/completely running a 40k doubles tournament! Now this tournament has caused some controversy over the last few hours on Facebook.
I'm running the tournament at my LGS, 1500 pts 40k Doubles. The idea is that each player brings 750pts to reach the total. Using the 3-1-0 system we will find a winner over 3 rounds...or as close to a winner as possible. Fairly straightforward you'd think but the rules surrounding the tournament from the GW site are apparently hard to grasp! One FOC which the players build from. Simple yes? Well, I read it as you have to have 1 HQ and 2 troops each, which would go along with the FOC anyway and guaranteed 4 troop units. This would enable everyone to fill out the rest of the slots as they wish. The ruling that has been given from the LGS is that the FOC can be filled by just 1 HQ if they wish from 1 player and then fill the FOC as they see fit, both using 750pts.
Now, either way is fine by me! The lack of communication is my fault, as I didn't clarify before hand, however this has brought criticism on FB from some players! One has even ended a post with the line: "if  I come in tomorrow and find that you've changed it again you are going to get hit". Now, we got the clarification of the one FOC I would have thought this would be fairly easy to comprehend... Clearly not! As of yet, I haven't replied to this and I am debating whether or not to turn up tomorrow as a mark of protest. Over the year, since the LGS has opened, they have helped me by introducing me to Malifaux, giving me painting tips and helping me with my all round hobbying needs. This is the closest LGS to me which has a gaming area and an abundant supply of merchandise to tempt my interest! Now, I come under flack all the time, not normally from the gaming community, and it usually doesn't bother me but something you do for free, something you give time up for and you come under this type of abuse is just not on. I know what you're thinking; You're overreacting, you can't tell a persons tone from the internet... well... not strictly true. So this leaves me in a difficult place at the moment because I'm not sure I want to go and run something at that store with those type of people. At the moment, it throws into debate whether I want to continue gaming down there... More on that in another post!

Rant over... and breathe...

So, those of you on Twitter today (or yesterday) may have seen my progress with my not so secret secret project! The idea is to have two forces for 40k and one for fantasy, although at the moment it is hard to decide what fantasy army to ditch! At the moment, my not so secret project is steadily rolling along, gathering models from a range of sources. Now, I know what you think - I'm not allowed to spend money! And you're quite right, I'm not allowed to spend money! But I'm half term and the Mrs can't see what I purchase and bring back to the house to build! I've used the line this week: "This? I found it in the garage!" I am however being a bit more astute about how I'm getting my models. I don't mean I go all ninja on your asses and tuck n roll into the house with new models. I mean, shop on ebay for some things which are already built and will be cheaper than normal. Those who know me know that I go through armies at an alarming rate, although I have been a lot better in the past few years than I have been! There was a stage where I'd get through armies on average, once a month. Now, I  actually keep armies... for some time!!! It's true!
So, with the limited shoestring/sneaky bastard restriction I have to be a bit clever about my models! Well today, in my mass boredom, I managed to kitbash a few models together!
I've got a unit of 3 obliterators (not my proudest kitbash but useable non-the-less), A warpsmith and 2 Chaos Lords. I've modelled one lord as the primary lord in my list with a power axe and a burning brand!

I wanted to give my army a feel of rust on the armour and oxidisation... now GW have handily made a paint which looks like oxidising metal and a coat of rust over the top I think they'll be table top standard in no time! I really want to take my time on this paint job and no rush it! Ideally, I'd like them ready for tournament play, but I have a feeling I won't be able to acquire the models in time for Death or Glory (2 weeks), so it'll be Grey Knights!

I'm waiting for a few eBay items to come in (hopefully) and then I'll be more or less sorted! I've managed to get a Soulgrinder for £15.00! bargain!!! At some point I'll look for obliterators, but I have no immediate rush for them as I don't know if I'll use them in my list!

Oh! Before I go, some people on Twitter (okay no-one, but I thought I'd share) have been asking me where I got these Ultra-Cool cards from for this totally awesome and really manly CCG...

Well, these My Little Pony TCG cards are from another LGS which specialises in the weird and wonderful! Yes, they stock some Warhammer but no Malifaux. They do stock loads of other games which are slightly baffling to me so I haven't really explored them. This game works the same way the old Star Trek CCG did. You have mission cards or 'problems' which need to be solved and you earn points. The idea, unlike MTG or Pokémon, is to collect points before the end of the game. I've just opened my pack and got the rulebook out! I think my Sunday will be having a look at these and see how it works! Yes...it is TOTALLY MANLY and not girly at all... end of discussion! *Picks up handbag and walks away*

Only a short post tonight, but something I wanted to share with you none-the-less. Hope you've enjoyed reading. I'll put my progress up of these soon!

I'll see you soon!
